Infinity Urns

Memorialize Your Loved One with a Meaningful Infinity Urn

The infinity symbol holds meaning across a broad spectrum. While mathematicians use it in their computations, lovers leverage it to express their passion and commitment for each other. Those with a spiritual mindset find it holds religious significance as well. Depending on the specific personal connection for you and your loved one, a meaningful infinity urn could be the perfect way to memorialize them.

Storied Past

Though Archimedes and Galileo both write about the concept of infinity, we owe the symbol to someone perhaps lesser-known.

The person who actually introduced the infinity symbol was John Wallis in 1655. This symbol is sometimes called the Lemniscate. It is a symbol that evolved a little bit from the Etruscan numeral for 1000 which looked like 2 letter Cs facing each other with an "I" in the middle (CIƆ). There is another theory that he actually derived the infinity symbol from omega (ω), the last letter of the Greek alphabet. (Ancient Symbols

Over the last few hundred years, the infinity symbol has come to mean different things to different groups of people. If your loved one was a member of one of these groups, memorializing them with a meaningful infinity urn could be the right choice.

Mathematical Concept

In one sense, infinity is a difficult mathematical concept to grasp. While we understand the concept in general—it represents limitlessness or boundlessness—those who actually deal with infinity as a mathematical concept are working with formulas in which "normal numbers" don't work. For those of us who never studied higher maths, it's hard to imagine the practical applications of such computations. For those working at the highest mathematical levels, however, it all makes perfect sense.

If your loved one enjoyed math, seemed to deeply understand its core principles, and/or worked mathematically on the highest levels, choosing a meaningful infinity urn as their final resting place is a good way to honor that aspect of their personhood.

Irish Connection

The Celtic "Trinity Knot" symbolizes eternal spiritual life. Like all Celtic knots, it is made with one continuous line that interweaves around itself, echoing the infinity symbol. Dating back to the 9th-century Book of Kells and echoed in 11th-century monasteries, its historic connection holds special significance for those of Irish descent.

If your loved one prized their Irish heritage, perhaps a meaningful infinity symbol urn could be one way to represent that.

Religious Significance

The infinity symbol holds a deep significance in religion, spirituality, and meditation. Infinity is mentioned in Christianity, Daoism, Sanatan Dharma (Hinduism), Buddhism, and many other faith traditions. Meanwhile, in meditation, the infinity symbol evokes balance, focus, harmony, peace, and oneness.

If your loved one held strong religious convictions or devoted themselves to fostering spiritual growth, perhaps a meaningful infinity urn would be the right choice for their final resting place.

Romantic Connotations

Couples always express the wish that their love will last forever. Although this romantic ideal doesn't always materialize in real life, we can honor the hope of endless connections in our symbolic gestures.

With a meaningful infinity urn, you can represent the hope of the romantic ideal and commemorate your endless and undying love for your partner, even in the face of death.

Grief and Remembrance

Words are rarely sufficient to express the fullness of our grief when we lose someone we love. Whether it's a friend, family member, romantic partner, or loved one, we struggle to know how best to demonstrate all they have meant to us. In times like these, we turn to symbols to help us express the intangible qualities that made our loved ones truly special. Here at Green Meadow, we understand. With a meaningful infinity urn, you can allow your loved one's final resting place to represent something truly meaningful.
