Infinity Urns

Storied Past

Though Archimedes and Galileo both write about the concept of infinity, we owe the symbol to someone perhaps lesser-known. 

The person who actually introduced the infinity symbol was John Wallis in 1655. This symbol is sometimes called the Lemniscate. It is a symbol that evolved a little bit from the Etruscan numeral for 1000 which looked like 2 letter Cs facing each other with an "I" in the middle (CIƆ). There is another theory that he actually derived the infinity symbol from omega (ω), the last letter of the Greek alphabet. (Ancient Symbols) 

Over the last few hundred years, the infinity symbol has come to mean different things to different groups of people. If your loved one was a member of one of these groups, memorializing them with a meaningful infinity urn could be the right choice. 

Mathematical Concept

In one sense, infinity is a difficult mathematical concept to grasp. Dating back to the 9th-century Book of Kells and echoed in 11th-century monasteries, its historic connection holds special significance for those of Irish descent.
