Transferring ashes easy. Simply twist and remove the quality threaded lid, transfer contents through the opening in the top, and securely refasten the lid. A felt pad covers the bottom to protect the urn and display surfaces from scratch marks.

It's really a handsome dark gray. It looks great in living room next our family pictures, the engraving is amazing.
Definitely dark grey the inside is painted black.

I ordered the small memorial urns for our grandchildren as a memory of their papa at Christmas time. They were so pleased and some tears were shed (good tears). I ordered the regular urn with the fisherman in the boat as the image. It was perfect! All of the urns arrived very quickly without being express shipped. I was extremely pleased with all that I ordered. Highly recommend.
