Elephant Urns
These elephant cremation urns are for those who shared the elephant's qualities of memory, loyalty, and gentleness. The artwork is engraved into cast aluminum with painted or enamel finishes, or into our Signature wood line of solid walnut or alder. Each piece is available in full-size, sharing, or keepsake sizes, with the option for a two-tone engraving of a name and dates.
This collection honors a life defined by both great strength and profound tenderness.
Elephants are among the few animals known to experience grief. They remember those they have lost, often returning to them and staying close to one another through the weight of loss. For many, this capacity for remembrance is what makes the elephant feel so deeply human.
You may recognize this same devotion in the person you remember. Perhaps they were the one who held the family history in their heart, never forgetting a milestone or a shared story, and remaining steadfastly loyal to those they loved through every season of life.
In a herd, strength is found in patience and the care given to the group. The herd moves at the pace of its slowest member, guided by a matriarch who carries the vital memory of where water can be found. This way of life demonstrates that true power is found in looking after one another and ensuring no one is left behind.
This design is for someone who carried their strength with a quiet, steady hand. You might remember how their presence provided a sense of security, yet they always moved through the world with a tenderness that was never diminished by their influence or their stature.
In our metal pieces, the elephant is engraved into cast aluminum, finished with a range of colors or with hand-applied enamel and silver bands. For those who prefer the warmth of wood, our Signature line features solid walnut or alder, crafted in the USA with a bottom-loading base.
Because every family remembers differently, we offer these pieces in full-size, sharing, and keepsake versions. You may also choose to have a name and dates engraved directly into the surface with a two-tone finish. Each selection offers a way to keep their memory close, whether through a single vessel or a collection of pieces shared among loved ones.
Researchers at the University of Sussex, working with the elephants of Amboseli National Park in Kenya, published the first systematic study of how elephants respond to the remains of their own kind. When offered elephant skulls and ivory alongside wood and the skulls of other large animals, the elephants gave far more attention to their own, gently touching the skulls and tusks with their trunks and feet.
Scientists described this as elephants paying homage to the bones of their dead: a herd that does not walk past what it has lost. You may see this same steadfastness in the way you continue to honor a presence that shaped your world.
