Tank Urns
This collection of tank urns is made for the armor soldier and those who lived alongside them. Whether they were a driver, gunner, mechanic, or a student of the machine, these cast aluminum urns honor the bond formed in small spaces and the quiet pride of service. Each piece features an engraved tank design and is available in full-size, sharing, and keepsake sizes with a choice of painted or hand-applied enamel finishes.
A name and dates may be engraved directly into the surface in a two-tone finish. These memorials honor the stories of the crew and the years spent in their company.
A tank crew consists of four people sharing a very small space for a very long time. Much of the work involves maintenance, cleaning, moving, and the constant care of a machine that will not forgive being neglected. It is a life defined by waiting and the steady rhythm of keeping the equipment running.
For those who served, these years shaped everything that followed. You might remember their quiet focus or the way they cared for the tools of their trade. The bond formed in that cramped, shared space was something that lasted the rest of their lives, a connection to the people who were there through every breakdown and every long hour of waiting.
When these veterans do speak of their service, the stories are rarely about the fighting. Instead, they speak of the crew and the small, human moments that defined their time in the armor. They tell stories of terrible coffee or a mechanical breakdown in the middle of the rain.
You may find yourselves holding two things at once: a deep pride in what they did and a quiet respect for the fact that they chose not to discuss the details. Their service was a part of them, even when they preferred to keep those memories private.
These memorials are cast aluminum, finished in various colors or in a hand-applied enamel with hand-detailed silver bands. The design features an engraved tank, a symbol of the machines they maintained and the roles they filled. Each piece is finished with a threaded screw-top lid and a felt base.
To honor their specific journey, we can engrave their name and dates directly into the surface with a two-tone finish. Whether you choose a full-size, sharing, or keepsake urn, the piece serves as a way to hold onto the legacy of their service and the people who stood alongside them.
The word tank is a lie that stuck. To keep the development of machines in Britain quiet during the First World War, they were described as water carriers for Mesopotamia, with some crates marked for Petrograd and a story that they were a kind of snowplough. Albert Gerald Stern explained that a committee needed a name that gave nothing away, and since committees often use initials, Water Carrier became Tank so the body could be the Tank Supply Committee. They first went into action at Flers-Courcelette on 15 September 1916, and the name never came off.
For a family, the design on the urn is the years the person served, and the crew they served with.

If the person you remember lived with that quiet focus or that particular way of caring for the tools of their trade, then these designs will recall the years that shaped them. A sibling or a grandchild will recognize the steady presence they brought to every task. The decision of how to honor that history belongs to you and your memories.
You will picture them in that small, shared space, perhaps sharing a story about a breakdown in the rain.
