Nurse Urns

These nurse urns are for those who spent a lifetime holding the weight of others' most difficult days. Each cast aluminum piece features the nurse design engraved into the metal, available in various painted finishes or hand-applied enamel with silver bands. Our collection includes full-size, sharing, and keepsake urns, all featuring a threaded screw-top lid and a felt base. We can engrave a name and dates directly into the surface as a two-tone option. These pieces honor a life defined by the steady practice of caring for others.

Nursing is the sustained practice of caring for people when they are at their most frightened and least able. It is a role defined by the steady presence required to hold the weight of a person's most vulnerable moments.

You knew them as the one who stood steady when others could not. They offered a quiet strength to those facing their hardest hours, becoming a constant in the lives of so many strangers.

In this work, every patient arrives as a whole life, and the nurse's responsibility is to hold as much of that life as possible. Those who practiced for decades developed a capacity for empathy that few can truly grasp. They often took on the most difficult cases, returning home after long shifts carrying a part of each person they cared for.

Your loved one did not just have a job. This was a fundamental part of who they were. They brought the stories and the lessons of their patients back to you, making their vocation a part of their very being, both at the bedside and in the quiet of home.

The nurse design is engraved into the cast aluminum, available in a range of painted colors or a hand-applied enamel with hand-detailed silver bands. This collection offers several options, from full-size pieces to sharing urns and smaller keepsake urns, each featuring a felt base and a threaded screw-top lid.

Whether you choose a single piece to keep close or several to share among your family, the design honors the calling they lived every day. You may also choose to have a name and dates engraved in two-tone lettering, making their identity a permanent part of the metal.

In 1893, Lystra Gretter and a committee at the Farrand Training School for Nurses in Detroit composed the Florence Nightingale Pledge. This nursing counterpart to the Hippocratic Oath was named for the founder of modern nursing. More than a century later, it is still recited at nursing graduations and pinning ceremonies, the moment a student becomes a nurse in front of family.

The person you loved once stood in a room like that and made that promise. By choosing this urn, you are honoring how completely they kept it.

If the person you are remembering was defined by the steady presence they offered during the hardest hours, these pieces may hold meaning for you. For a life spent tending to the needs of the vulnerable, these cast aluminum tributes offer a way to preserve that specific legacy.

Whether you decide on a larger vessel for the home or a smaller piece to keep nearby, the choice belongs to your own memory of them. You may choose to have their name and dates engraved into the surface, or simply select a finish that reflects the person they were.

Can't find the right one?

Search by a theme, hobby, or interest, or a size like keepsake, sharing, or individual. We'll help you find the right one.

Choosing the right size

Every design comes in the same three sizes. Here's how families use each one.

Individual

Full size · Approx. 10" high

Holds all of an adult's remains, the same full-size memorial a funeral home provides. Choosing one urn for one person? This is the one.

Sharing

Mid size · Approx. 6" high

Holds a meaningful portion of the remains, measured in cups, not all of them. Choose this when dividing ashes between households, or keeping some close after scattering the rest.

Keepsake

Pocket size · Approx. 3" high

Holds a small token: a few spoonfuls. A personal remembrance: one for each family member, or something small to keep on a shelf or bedside table.
