Dirt Bike Urns

This collection of dirt bike urns is for the racer with a number plate, the trail rider in the woods, the young rider whose family never expected this moment, and the parent at the track fence. Each cast aluminum piece features an engraved dirt bike design and is available in painted finishes or hand-applied enamel with silver bands.

We offer two-tone engraving for names and dates on our full-size, sharing, and keepsake urns. These pieces honor those for whom riding was the truest thing about them.

Riding is one of the few activities that requires the whole of a person's attention. There is no room for anything else when the bike is in motion, which is why those who love it often find it so essential to their lives.

This collection is for the racer who lived for the number plate and the season, and for the rider who sought out trails, woods, and deserts just to get away. It is for the young rider whose family never expected to be choosing a memorial, and for the parent who drove to every track, paid the way, and stood by the fence all weekend.

It is often a family sport more than it appears. It involves a household living out of a trailer for days at a time, someone working on a bike on a Thursday night, and the intimate knowledge of a machine known part by part.

You might remember their hands permanently marked from the work, or that particular smell in the garage. For those who found happiness in the quieter half of riding - out past where the roads stop and back at dark, filthy and content - this design serves as a tribute to a life lived with that specific, unhurried joy.

Each piece is cast aluminum, featuring a design of a dirt bike engraved into the metal. The collection offers various finishes, including a range of painted colors or a hand-applied enamel with hand-detailed silver bands. Every urn is designed with a threaded screw-top lid and a felt base.

Because every family's needs are different, we offer full-size, sharing, and keepsake sizes so you can choose one piece or several. We can also engrave a name and dates directly into the surface with a two-tone engraving, making the person's history a permanent part of the piece.

The sport began as British scrambles, with the first known scramble race held at Camberley in Surrey in 1924. These events grew out of the motorcycle trials competitions already being run there. The word motocross is a hybrid, blending the French motocyclette with cross country, which is how the sport was named once it spread beyond Britain. One account suggests the term came from someone calling an early race a rare old scramble.

For a family, the design on the urn is the bike the person rode, and every weekend that went with it.

If they were someone who lived with hands permanently marked by the work or found peace in the quiet of the woods after dark, then this design will read as theirs. A family chooses this design because riding was their truest expression, and because the bike is still in the garage.

They will picture them out past where the roads stop, riding through the trees, filthy and entirely happy.

Choosing the right size

Every design comes in the same three sizes. Here's how families use each one.

Individual

Full size · Approx. 10" high

Holds all of an adult's remains, the same full-size memorial a funeral home provides. Choosing one urn for one person? This is the one.

Sharing

Mid size · Approx. 6" high

Holds a meaningful portion of the remains, measured in cups, not all of them. Choose this when dividing ashes between households, or keeping some close after scattering the rest.

Keepsake

Pocket size · Approx. 3" high

Holds a small token: a few spoonfuls. A personal remembrance: one for each family member, or something small to keep on a shelf or bedside table.
