Cthulhu Urns
This collection of Cthulhu urns is for the reader who kept Lovecraft on their shelves and the game master who spent decades hosting evenings with the unknowable. Each cast aluminum piece features engraved Cthulhu artwork, available in painted finishes or hand-applied enamel with silver bands.
The collection includes full-size, sharing, and keepsake sizes, all featuring a threaded screw-top lid and a felt base. We offer the option of two-tone engraving for names and dates. These pieces honor the humor found in the vastness of the universe and the community built around the gaming table.
There is a specific kind of person who finds comfort in the strange and the vast. It is the reader who kept shelves of Lovecraft close, or the one who kept a small, plush elder god on their desk as a silent companion. You may remember them as someone who viewed an evening spent contemplating the unknowable as a perfectly good way to spend a Saturday night.
The appeal of cosmic horror lies in a very particular kind of honesty. It is the recognition that the universe is immense and largely indifferent to our presence. Rather than finding this realization terrifying, those who love these stories find a way to laugh at the absurdity of it all.
This perspective often became a way of life. You likely remember the way they could invoke the Old Ones over pizza or the laughter that followed a particularly difficult failed sanity check during a game. It was this sense of humor about existence that made them a steady presence, the kind of person who kept a gaming table running for twenty years because the group simply loved being there.
These pieces are crafted from cast aluminum, featuring the Cthulhu artwork engraved directly into the metal. The finishes range from solid colors to hand-applied enamel accented with silver bands. Each piece is finished with a felt base and a threaded screw-top lid for security.
Families can choose from full-size, sharing, or keepsake urns, so one piece or several can be held by different loved ones.
For a more personal touch, we offer the option of two-tone engraving to place a name and dates directly into the surface. This makes the identity of the person a permanent part of the design, much like the stories they loved so well.
H. P. Lovecraft wrote "The Call of Cthulhu" in the summer of 1926, and it first appeared in the pulp magazine Weird Tales in February 1928. Although Lovecraft called the story "rather middling," a century on, the creature he described has outgrown its author, its magazine, and its genre. It turns up on game tables, desks, and, here, a memorial.
For a family, the design on the urn represents the world they loved to visit and the friends who went there with them every week.
