At Peace Urns
The At Peace cremation urns are designed for the person whose family still reaches for them out of habit, from the voice they long to hear to the chair that still catches their eye. These aluminum urns come in painted or hand-applied enamel finishes and are available in both full-size and sharing sizes.
Each poem urn for ashes features four lines that set the weight of daily habits against a quiet certainty of rest, with the option for two-tone engraving of names and dates. The lines are in the mourner's voice, and they end on rest.
There is a specific kind of presence that remains even after someone is gone. It is found in the instinct to pick up the phone to share a piece of news, or the way a glance still drifts toward a favorite seat by the window. For families who have navigated a long illness, the arrival of relief and grief often happens in the same week. In these moments, the habits of loving someone often arrive much faster than the realization of their absence.
The design of the At Peace urns acknowledges this tension between what the heart does and what the mind knows. The four lines written across the surface let these two truths sit side by side. The first two lines admit to the lingering habits, such as the name spoken into an empty kitchen or the reflex to reach for them. The last two say what the speaker holds to be true, that they are at rest. This is a voice for the mourner, providing words for what the family tells itself in the quiet parts of the day.
These aluminum pieces are available in a range of painted finishes or in a hand-applied enamel that features hand-detailed silver bands. Each urn is finished with a threaded screw-top lid and a felt base.
Families may choose to keep their loved one close in a single piece or divide their presence among several. We offer a full-size urn made to hold the entire remains of an adult, as well as a sharing urn for those who wish to hold a portion of the remains so that more than one person can keep some close to them.
To make the memorial truly personal, we can engrave the name and dates directly into the metal. The name and dates are cut in two-tone lettering, beside the lines.
If the person was someone whose presence is felt in the reflex to share news or the tendency to glance toward a familiar seat, then these lines will read as theirs. Anyone who ever called them with news will recognize those habits in these lines. It is for those who want a piece that admits to the habits that have not yet caught up, and still ends on rest.
You might picture them in the chair by the window.
