The artwork is available in several finishes. Our aluminum options include a range of painted colors or a hand-applied enamel with hand-detailed silver bands. The angel wings design is also part of our Signature wood line, made in the USA from solid walnut or alder. The aluminum pieces feature a threaded screw-top lid and a felt base, and the wood urns load from the base.

We can engrave a name and dates directly into the surface of these pieces. This is done as a two-tone engraving, cutting the inscription into the material to make it a permanent part of the urn.

In the Protestant Cemetery in Rome, an angel lies collapsed across a grave, face hidden in its arm. The sculptor William Wetmore Story carved it in 1894 for his wife Emelyn, after their children urged him to make something for her. It was his last major work. He died the following year and was buried beneath it.
